Exercise... it’s like a dirty word in the weight-loss world. Sure we all know we have to do it if we are going to ditch those annoying excess pounds the healthy way...but we sure as hell don’t want to do it. In fact, if you are honestly one of those people who have always loved slogging it out at the gym, or jogging every morning at 6am, or even addicted to those adventure sports and are out scuba diving/mountain climbing/white water rafting every weekend... then chances are, you are not someone that has ever had a problem with weight.
We hate exercise. It’s tiring... It’s exhausting... It’s... It’s... well not something our overweight bodies enjoy doing at all.
They always tell you that you need to exercise to lose weight healthily. That you need to get out there, be active, move your body, burn off all those pounds that seem to have accumulated over the years. They also say you need to find an activity you love. Exercise that we love? Having just established that exercise if e.v.i.l., you can guess that there aren’t many activities that we actually enjoy doing. But then we realised... how do we know we hate every exercise or activity that gets our bodies moving if we haven’t tried it?
So here we are today... we are overweight and we hate exercise – facing the only decision that we can... Try every exercise or activity out there, from the down right boring to the OMG-amazing over the next year... and find out what all the fuss is about.
Can two average overweight Australians actually undertake every activity there is to offer? Will it even make a difference to our weight-loss goals? This is what we hope to find out. A whole year of exercise, a complete year of trying new things, an entire year of being healthy...
Welcome... to the Year of Hell!
Weekly Challenges
Over the next fifty-two weeks, we will also be setting weekly challenges, basically completing an entire week of doing something that is supposed to be done.
For instance, do you drink at least 8 glasses of water each day? Do you consume at least 1000mg of calcium daily. How about having at least 8 hours of sleep each night? Or getting your recommended fibre intake, or fruits and veges?
Yeah, well neither do we lol. Because it is near on impossible to change these all at once, we figured we'd try giving each one a go for a week, and reviewing it.
