Sydney! Sydney!

While I am a bit behind in updating the blog regarding last weekend’s adventures, I felt it was definitely necessary to mention last Sunday’s outing as we had a truly glorious day! It’s the last month of winter, yet here in Sydney we have been facing such wonderful weather. Probably not a great thing for our farmers as they look forward to the winter months for an increase in rainfall... but for us sun-lovers, the sunny 23-25 degree days have been a god-send! We probably should have taken more advantage of the great days, but for the days such as last Sunday, it has definitely been worth it.

I’ve lived in Sydney for more than ten years – and still a country girl at heart, I have to say I haven’t spent enough time exploring the delights the city really has to offer. With Chance getting his new camera last week, we thought it was a perfect opportunity to take it out and run it through its paces... which ended up being the through Hyde Park, onto the botanical gardens and out to Mrs Macquarie point and back past the Sydney Opera House. It was a couple of hours worth of walking and photography – exercise and yet still fun!

Of course we started the day out with pancakes at the ‘Pancakes on the Rocks’ restaurant, which certainly doesn’t help with the waistline – yet it certainly helped with the mood of the day. Hopping on the monorail, we got back to Town Hall and walked out way through the Queen Victoria Building and on our way through to Hyde Park. Moving on through the Royal Botanical Gardens, we walked out to Mrs Macquarie Point and along the harbour walk back to Sydney Opera House. I have to say I ached a little by the end of the day – so while the day itself was awesome, it was nice to be sitting on the way home!

I think walking is a great exercise... but walking the same way every time and especially if it’s just around the neighbourhood (no matter how convenient), it’s definitely worth while trying to make the walks as interesting as possible. Walk through the city, or check out the beach walks (coming up soon) or even go bushwalking. The atmosphere makes it so that you forget you are even exercising! I think the best part of ‘Year of Hell’ has been finding out there are such great places that are actually worth visiting!

Is there somewhere you have wanted to check out but never got around to going too? How about going next weekend!

(Coming next... this weekend's Horse Riding and Quad Biking!)
