Gym Junkies!

Slogging it out at the gym has always been a double-edged sword for me. Let’s face it, I’m not skinny... which is one of the reasons we are doing this “Year of Hell” project and why the gym is included. Unfortunately, the average person who works out at the gym isn’t really overweight. So the downside to gym workouts, is that your there, not looking mighty hot in your little tights, sweating it out next to some ‘babe’ who really should be spending her Saturday arvo’ at the beach in a bikini ;) On the upside, after a workout I really feel energised!

This Saturday was no different. We completed our gym cardio introduction session which basically involved us spending ten minutes on each cardio machine in the gym (treadmill, bike, lean back bike, x-trainer and mountain climber). I love the x-trainer (if I can stay on it long enough lol) though my first time on the Mountain Climber totally sucked! Any machine with the name ‘mountain’ and climbing’ should have tipped me off, which of course means I didn’t get further than five minutes on that bugger of a machine. It’s basically like a step machine, and I am happy to say, easier I think that a step machine, but its still a bugger.

All in all, it was what was expected from a gym session – thankfully I have to say, it was not the busiest, so there were many machines available. What I love about the gym we are attending though, is in the change rooms they also have a spa and sauna! Not something we utilized this time, but ooooh so plan to use in the future!

What you need to know:
Gym’s are expensive! Though I am sure you already knew that! lol But if they work for you, it’s definitely worth the money. I am not sure if it’s definitely my kind of thing just yet, but it’s on the list. While its not fun being the fatty amongst all those uber-fit athletes, it’s certainly a great motivator! Find a gym that works for you, not just for atmosphere, but also that fits into your financial situation. A gym with a spa helps ;)
